Brian R. Means

Brian R. Means is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in various roles within the legal field. Since January 2008, Brian has been an author of legal publications, contributing four works on criminal collateral review, including the comprehensive 2900-page treatise POSTCONVICTION REMEDIES, published by Thomson-Reuters (West). Additionally, Brian serves as a legal commentator and analyst across multiple media platforms, such as CNN and MSNBC, while holding the position of Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice since April 1998, where responsibilities include criminal prosecution within the Appeals, Writs, and Trials Section. Prior experience includes a law clerk position for the Honorable Garland Burrell, Jr. in United States Federal Courts from August 1994 to March 1998. Brian earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law between 1988 and 1991.
