Lara Maxey

Lara Maxey, MPA, currently serves as the Director of External Affairs for the California Department of Justice, where responsibilities include planning and implementing strategies to enhance public awareness of Attorney General initiatives. With a diverse background in public service and community engagement, Lara has held significant roles such as Commissioner for the Alameda County Human Relations Commission and ADEM Appointed Delegate for the California Democratic Party. Previous experiences include managing external affairs and re-entry programs at La Familia Counseling Service, leading a grassroots campaign for California Insurance Commissioner, and acting as Deputy District Director for Congressman Brad Sherman. Lara's educational credentials include an MPA from Howard University and participation in the Executive Leadership Program at Cornell University.
