Marie Cheyenne Bryant, Esq. currently serves as a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice since January 2024 and also holds the position of Deputy Public Defender at the Contra Costa Office of Public Defender since November 2021. With a robust background in public defense and legal education, Bryant was the Director of Public Interest Advising and an Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University, School of Law from February 2018 to November 2021. Prior experience includes roles as an Assistant Public Defender for Cook County Government and McHenry County, as well as a Criminal Law Clerk at The Law Offices of Gayle Schor. Bryant began legal training as a legal clerk with The Honorable Judge Jeffrey Lawrence and The Law Offices of The Public Defender in Cook County. In addition to law-related positions, Bryant worked as a Political Coordinator for the Ronald Dellums Mayoral Campaign in 2006. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (2011) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government and African American Studies from the University of Michigan (2008).
