Sarah Barnes

Sarah Barnes currently serves as Supervising Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, a role held since May 2024. With extensive experience in various sections including the Office of General Counsel, Government Law, and Health, Education and Welfare, Barnes has been with the Department since September 2013. Prior roles include Legal Research Attorney for the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, and various legal positions at organizations such as East Bay Community Law Center and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. Sarah Barnes holds a JD from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and a BA in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara.
