Genise Choy has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Genise is currently working as a Housing Finance Consultant at California Housing Partnership since December 2020. Prior to this, they worked at the Chinatown Community Development Center from May 2016 to January 2020, serving as both a Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager. In addition, they served as the Associate Director and Board Member at Urban Pond Procession/UPP Arts from January 2010 to December 2017. Genise has also worked as an Artist Housing and Workspace Intern at the City of Oakland, UC Berkeley Global Urban Humanities Initiative, and Enterprise Community Partners. Furthermore, they have experience as a Workforce and Youth Programming Intern at SFMade and as a Research Associate at Barbara Sokoloff Associates, Inc. Genise started their career as an Americorps*VISTA/Executive Assistant at Providence CityArts for Youth, Inc. from June 2009 to October 2011.

Genise Choy completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Art at Swarthmore College from 2005 to 2009. Later, from 2014 to 2016, they pursued and successfully obtained a Master of City Planning (MCP) degree in Housing, Community and Economic Development (HCED) from the University of California, Berkeley.
