Associate Professor Of The Alexander Technique at California Jazz Conservatory

Laura Klein is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in the fields of music and the Alexander Technique. As the Associate Professor of the Alexander Technique at California Jazz Conservatory since November 2012, Laura has also been co-leading and composing for the FivePlay Jazz Quintet since January 2008. Additionally, Laura maintains a private practice as a teacher of the Alexander Technique, a role held since 1987. Previous teaching experience includes instructing music majors at the University of California, Berkeley from 2008 to 2012. Educated at the Center for the Alexander Technique, Laura holds AmSAT and STAT certifications, as well as a BA in Music from the University at Buffalo, complemented by studies at Berklee College of Music. Laura's artistic contributions also extend to performing as a pianist and composing for Auraline Music since 1975.

The California Jazz Conservatory is a private music school in Berkeley, California. It is the only independent music conservatory in the United States devoted solely to jazz and related styles of music. Located in the Downtown Berkeley Arts District, the CJC offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies. The Conservatory also offers community education classes and workshops for instrumentalists and vocalists and precollege youth programs for beginning, intermediate and advanced musicians.
