Carl Kemnitz

Carl Kemnitz is the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at California State University, San Marcos. Carl was previously the Senior Vice Provost at San Jose State University from July 2015 to July 2020, and before that, they were the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs at California State University, Bakersfield from September 1998 to June 2015.

After completing an AB in Chemistry at Occidental College, Carl Kemnitz went on to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Carl then completed a postdoc in Computational and Synthetic Organic Chemistry at University of Washington.

Carl Kemnitz reports to Ellen Neufeldt, President. They work with Aswad Allen - Chief Diversity Officer, Viridiana Diaz - VP, Student Affairs, and Jennifer Ballentine - Executive Director, CSU Institute for Palliative Care.
