Oliver Thompson

Oliver Thompson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data management and innovation in New Zealand. Currently serving as Data Capability Lead and Data Strategy Lead at Callaghan Innovation since February 2013, Oliver is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's data strategy while fostering a shared understanding of data value. Previously, Oliver held positions as Group Manager and Acting Group Manager for Data and IoT, leading diverse teams of scientists and engineers to drive innovation across various industries. Earlier in their career, Oliver was a Team Leader in Transducers and Sensing, overseeing significant research and development in optical and acoustic systems, and a Research Scientist at both Callaghan Innovation and Industrial Research Ltd, focusing on applied physics and biomedical optics. Oliver holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Auckland and has master's and bachelor's degrees in Electronics and Physics, respectively, from the University of Otago.
