Sean Smith

Sean Smith possesses extensive experience in the mining and materials industry, currently serving as the Vice President and General Manager of the Washington Materials Division at CalPortland since February 2016. With a progressive career at CalPortland, Sean has held various roles including Assistant General Manager, Plant Superintendent, and Aggregate Delivery Fleet Manager. Prior to this, Sean worked at Cliffs Natural Resources from January 2014 to February 2016, where responsibilities included Mine Operations Supervisor and USIO Edge Engineer, focusing on mine planning and scheduling. Educational qualifications include a Master of Engineering in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Logistics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Additionally, Sean has engaged in research emphasizing risk management within the mining sector during a tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech.
