Shir Elany has an extensive work experience in the field of mechanical design engineering. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at CALUMINO, where they were responsible for product design from concept to prototyping to mass production. Shir also performed a top-down design of a product, including form, factor, and function, as well as CAD modelling and drawing preparation. From 2020-2022, Shir worked as a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Verifai, where they took an idea for a product through the concept, design and prototyping phases, and defined a spec according to the industry and customer requirements. In 2020, they also worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer and Solidworks CAD Expert at Rotem – Israel Arad Design, where they designed mechanical components as part of a large-scale assembly, and prepared engineering drawings for Sheetmetal manufacturing and weldment assemblies. From 2019-2020, Shir worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Nanosonics Ltd., where they designed packaging solutions for medical grade devices, specialized fluid connectors, and detailed CAD and drawing designs. In 2019, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at BrightSource Energy, Inc. From 2017-2019, Shir worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Medinol. From 2010-2017, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at BrightSource Industries Israel (formerly Luz2). In 2009, they worked as an Application Engineer at Systematics Ltd. Solutions at work. In 2008, Shir worked as a QA Engineer at SpaceClaim. Finally, from 2005-2008, they worked as a Product Definition at SolidWorks.
Shir Elany received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia Engineering in 2008. Prior to this, they attended Tulane University from 2004 to 2006, studying Mechanical Engineering.
