Mark brings a diverse experience to Calvary with his background in secondary education, refugee and immigration law, international aid and development, strategic planning, organisational formation and social justice. Mark developed and introduced a national framework for the governance of Calvary’s mission (Mission Accountability Framework) including mechanisms for regularly reporting to and engaging Board and Trustees in the governance and stewardship of Calvary’s mission. He has developed a discernment framework to guide major decision making and introduced formation programs and tools to support Calvary’s Directors and Executives.
Presently, Mark is supporting Calvary to develop a national Reconciliation Action Plan, strengthen the safeguarding of children and adults at risk and address the risks of modern slavery in supply chains. Mark sponsors Calvary’s Celebrating Excellence in End of Life Care Campaign which aims to increase public awareness and promote approaches to end of life care which communicate that each and every life matters, is gift and is intrinsically valuable at every moment, in death and thereafter.
Prior to joining Calvary in 2014, he was the Head of Mission and People at Caritas Australia.
Mark’s skills are in leadership, strategic planning, organisational management, formation, theological reflection and organisational development.
He has degrees in Economics, Law and Theology, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. Mark is a Justice of the Peace (NSW). He chairs the CHA Mission and Identity Committee and is a member of the Plunkett Centre for Ethics’ management committee.
