Ling Tong has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Their most recent role was as the Vice President of Research and Development at Calyxo, Inc. starting in September 2019. Previously, they worked as the Associate Director of Engineering at Invicta Medical from September 2018 to August 2019.
From October 2015 to August 2018, Ling worked at Chrono Therapeutics as a Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering. Before that, they served as a Principal Engineer at Neotract from January 2009 to October 2015, where they led multiple projects and launched a product that reduced cost of goods and increased product reliability.
Prior to Neotract, Ling held the position of Principal Engineer at Biomerix from May 2008 to December 2008. Ling led the development of a unique spinal implant and was responsible for designing custom test methods and performing failure modes and risk analysis.
From January 2006 to May 2008, Ling worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Novonordisk Delivery Technologies, where they managed the inhaled GLP-1 project and coordinated efforts between various groups.
Earlier in their career, Ling was a Mechanical Engineer in System Development at ALZA Corporation from March 2003 to January 2006. Ling led the device development of the Macroflux combination drug delivery project and optimized mechanical components for superior drug delivery.
Ling also worked as a Product Engineer at Macropore Biosurgery Inc from July 2000 to August 2002, leading cross-functional teams on successful product launches.
In addition, Ling served as a Research and Development Test Engineer at DePuy Orthopaedics from February 1998 to August 1999, managing the biomedical mechanical test lab and communicating test results.
Ling started their career as an Engineer Intern in Transducer Design at Boston Acoustics from June 1995 to May 1996, assisting in the design, development, and manufacturing of audio loudspeakers.
Ling Tong pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completing the program from 1992 to 1996.
