Mary Taylor recently retired from the Department of Homeland Security where she held senior positions in disaster response and mitigation, bio-surveillance, outreach and employee engagement. She has extensive experience establishing training programs and coordinating large events.
Eager to contribute to the well-being of Alexandria citizens, Mary has used the skills developed in her federal positions to actively participate in the community with Junior Friends, the Girl Scouts, the ACPS PTA Council, as an Alexandria Precinct Election Officer, as a member of the Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services Social Service Advisory Board, and as a tutor for adults through The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia.
In April 2020, the U.S Office of Personnel Management named Mary as the 2019 Combined Federal Campaign National Hero for her work in generating more than $5 million in pledges by Department of Homeland Security employees to support local, national and international not-for-profit charities and educational organizations.
