Joan Roch has over 30 years of professional experience, including roles in the Canada Health Infoway, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), and the Government of Manitoba. Joan served as the Chief Privacy Strategist at Canada Health Infoway, where they played a crucial role in addressing privacy concerns in digital health initiatives across Canada. During their time at CIHI, they held the position of Chief Privacy Officer and was responsible for developing privacy principles and policies, as well as advocating for CIHI's recognition in health information legislation in Ontario. Earlier in their career, they worked in the Government of Manitoba as the Director of Central Directorate, Income Security and Regional Operations, Family Services, where they oversaw the development and implementation of programs and policies for major income support programs.
Joan Roch attended West Kildonan Collegiate from 1967 to 1969, but did not pursue a specific degree or field of study during that time. Subsequently, from 1969 to 1976, they enrolled at the University of Manitoba and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in the field of Human Development, Family Studies, and Related Services.
