Valerie Steele

Valerie Steele currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Corporate Audit at BMO Financial Group since June 2024. In addition to this role, Valerie has been the Vice-Chair of the National Board of Directors for the Canadian Cancer Society since January 2017. Previous positions at BMO Financial Group include Managing Director of the Professional Practice Centre in Corporate Audit from January 2015 to February 2020. Valerie's experience also includes serving as Director of Inspections and Director of Quality Monitoring & Risk Management at the Canadian Public Accountability Board from 2010 to 2011, and as Principal at DAVA Consulting Inc. from 2008 to 2010, where responsibilities encompassed developing financial solutions and risk management strategies. Additionally, Valerie was a Partner at KPMG Canada from 1997 to 2008. Academic credentials include a Director's Education Program at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management and degrees in Pedology and Biology from Queen's University, along with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/Finance from the University of Windsor.
