Joel Zylberberg is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair at York University since January 2019, specializing in machine learning and neuroscience. In addition to this role, Zylberberg serves as an Associate Scientist at the Creative Destruction Lab, providing mentorship to startup teams and evaluating applicant technologies. As a Faculty Affiliate at the Vector Institute and an Associate Fellow of Learning in Machines and Brains with CIFAR, contributions to the intersection of machine learning and neuroscience are emphasized. Prior positions include Assistant Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Acting Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington. Zylberberg holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Simon Fraser University.
