Nilesh Shastri

As the chief information security officer (CISO), Nilesh Shastri is responsible and accountable for leading CIHI’s Information Security Program. Mr. Shastri has more than 2 decades of progressive IT and information security experience in small, medium and large health care enterprises. His expertise includes developing and implementing enterprise security programs to enhance a company’s security posture, to manage enterprise risks and compliance, and to support revenue generation and growth.

Prior to joining CIHI, Mr. Shastri held many leadership positions at various leading health care organizations, including Bayshore Healthcare, The College of Family Physicians of Canada, Telus Health and the electronic Child Health Network. He has well-rounded experience in information security governance, risk and compliance, security audits, business continuity and technical infrastructure support, security operations, risk management and incident response.

Mr. Shastri is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), and he holds a Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification.
