Deborah Khursigara

Deborah Khursigara is an accomplished professional in the field of health research and communications, currently serving as Assistant Scientific Director and Project Manager of Strategic Research Initiatives at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research since December 2019. In this role, Deborah leads strategic funding initiatives focused on infection and immunity, developing expert briefings and reports. Previous experience includes a decade at MEDUCOM Health Inc. as Medical Director, where Deborah oversaw the development of medically accurate communication content, and as Medical Communications Manager, contributing to various educational and marketing programs. Earlier roles include Senior Scientist - Project Manager at Cylex, Inc., where leadership in R&D projects was provided, and volunteer positions as Clinical Research Assistant at Whitman-Walker Clinic and Science Writer at the National Institutes of Health. Deborah holds a PhD in Molecular Biology/Virology from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, along with a post-doctoral fellowship in Tumor Immunology from the National Institutes of Health.
