Mary Fraser Valiquette has a diverse work experience in the field of health research and policy. Mary began their career at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in 1999 as a Program Officer for the Randomized Trials Unit. Mary then became a Policy Analyst in 2002 and held this position until 2008. In 2009, they served as a Project Manager for the Expensive Drugs for Rare Diseases Initiative. Mary then joined Health Canada as a Senior Policy Analyst in 2018. Mary returned to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in 2010 and has held various roles, including A/Deputy Director of Program Delivery and Team Lead of Program Delivery. Mary also served as the Competition Lead for the Priority-Driven Research Branch and A/Manager of Program Design and Delivery. Currently, Mary holds the position of Deputy Director of Partnership Principles and Standards with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Mary Fraser Valiquette earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from McGill University, which they completed from 1992 to 1995. Mary then pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Psychiatry from McGill University, which they completed during the academic year of 1997 to 1998.
