Samia Hussein

Director, National Industrial Relations & Associate Counsel at Canadian Media Producers Association

Samia advises producers on the CMPA’s industry labour agreements and represents the CMPA in all labour disputes arising under those agreements.

As the Director, of National Industrial Relations and Associate Counsel, Samia is counsel for the CMPA in grievances and labour arbitrations. Samia advises and represents the CMPA in collective bargaining, labour relations, and all other labour and employment law matters.

Prior to joining the CMPA, Samia was a Senior Associate at a leading employment and labour law firm, where she advised employers on many areas of employment and labour law with a particular emphasis on employment agreements, policy development and implementation, occupational health and safety, and human rights and accommodation matters.

Samia is currently the Vice-Chair of the Employment & Labour Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She is also regularly invited to speak at conferences and events on key employment and labour law considerations for employers.

Samia obtained her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School where she was the recipient of the NA Taylor Scholarship and the Charles Edward Woodward award for academic excellence. Samia completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology.
