Jeff Blackmer

Chief Medical Officer & EVP, Global Health at Canadian Medical Association

Jeff Blackmer serves as the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association for Global Health, an organization formed from the merger of two global health associations, since October 2023. As Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President for Global Health at the Canadian Medical Association since 2003, Jeff Blackmer leads initiatives to advance international healthcare strategies, particularly the Impact 2040 initiative. Throughout a distinguished career, Jeff Blackmer has held various significant roles including Vice President of Medical Professionalism and Executive Director for the Office of Ethics, Professionalism and International Affairs at the Canadian Medical Association. Additionally, Jeff Blackmer has experience as a Medical Staff member and Clinical Ethicist at The Rehabilitation Centre, an Associate Professor and Director of Medical Ethics Education at the University of Ottawa, and has contributed to the field through leadership positions in other medical associations. Academic credentials include a Global EMBA from INSEAD and advanced degrees in Bioethics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
