Gour Kundu

Director of Operations at Canadian UAVs

Gour Kundu has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Gour started their career in the Indian Navy in 1985, where they served as a Squadron Pilot and Senior Pilot, commanding operational missions in various locations. Gour later became an Executive Officer, leading a team and successfully conducting deep-sea dives. Gour also served as a Senior Training Manager, updating training syllabi and conducting ground training for naval pilots. Gour then transitioned to working with UAVs, joining Canadian UAVs in 2016 as an RPAS Training Consultant and Operations Manager. In this role, they were responsible for developing training materials and conducting online and classroom training for commercial UAV operations. Gour also worked at MDA, where they held multiple roles, including Chief AVO (RPAS Pilot), Consultant for Technical Support Services on Heron UAV Programs, and UAV AVO Instructor. Gour was involved in flight safety coordination, theoretical and practical flight training, and supporting technical aspects of Heron UAV programs. Most recently, Gour returned to Canadian UAVs as the Director of Operations in 2019.

Gour Kundu completed their Bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of Mumbai from 1979 to 1982. Prior to that, they completed their class 12 education in science from Atomic Energy Central School, which they attended from 1970 to 1979.

In terms of additional certifications, Gour Kundu obtained various RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) pilot and operator certifications. Gour became an AVO (Air Vehicle Operator) instructor pilot for Searcher Mk II and Heron RPAS from IAI - Israel Aerospace Industries in December 2006. Prior to that, they obtained certifications as an Indago RPAS pilot from Lockheed Martin in June 2015, a Camcopter S-100 RPAS pilot and MX10 Payload Operator from Schiebel in February 2018, a Skeldar V-200 RPAS pilot from UMS SKELDAR in October 2019, a Whiskey Jack RPAS pilot from Canadian UAVs in October 2020, and a Bramor ppX Pilot Instructor from C-Astral Aerospace in March 2021.

Their most recent certification was as an Aerosonde Mk4.7G and Mk4.7HQ Pilot, Flight Crew Chief, and Maintainer from Textron Systems in March 2023.
