Efraín Isaza Cerrud has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Efraín started their career in 2002 as a Mechanical Engineer at NAES Panama @ Pan Am Generating Ltd. Efraín then worked as a QA/QC Mechanical Engineer at Celmec, S.A. in 2002. In 2003, they joined Hong Kong Dredging Corporation as an Assistant Marine Engineer and later worked as a Marine Assistant at Marine Team International Inc. During 2004, they were a Ship Manager Assistant at Astilleros Braswell International, S.A. before joining Autoridad del Canal de Panama as a First Assistant Engineer. From 2009 to 2011, they served as the General Manager at Panama Dive Adventure. In 2011, they joined Canal de Panamá, first as a First Assistant Engineer and later promoted to Chief Engineer.

Efraín Isaza Cerrud completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering Systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 1997 to 2001. In addition, they obtained certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor from PADI, although the specific month and year are not provided.
