Ieuan Dolby has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Ieuan started their career as a Cadet and worked their way up to become a Chief Engineer in various ship companies from 1984 to 1996. Ieuan then joined Tidewater and Swire Pacific Offshore, where they served as a Chief Engineer and Technical Advisor on different types of vessels. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as a Technical Superintendent at Carisbrooke Shipping, managing daily operations and repairs of vessels. Ieuan then joined Andrew Moore and Associates as a Senior Marine Consultant from 2010 to 2014. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Principal Surveyor/Consultant at Braemar (Incorporating The Salvage Association), providing marine surveying and technical consultancy services. Ieuan Dolby attended Newcastle University from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Maritime Technology. Ieuan then enrolled at South Shields Marine School from 1986 to 1989, earning a Higher National Diploma in Marine Engineering. In 2004, Ieuan Dolby also obtained a Class 1 Motor Certificate in Marine Engineering from South Shields Marine School.
