Rachel Grimley

Senior Vice President Drug Discovery at Cancer Research UK

Rachel Grimley serves as the Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery at Cancer Research UK since April 2021 and also holds the position of Expert in Residence at the University of Oxford since April 2022. Previously, Rachel Grimley was the Executive Director and Global Head of Mechanistic Biology & Profiling at AstraZeneca from May 2015 to April 2021, and the Epigenetics Exploratory Lead at Neusentis, Pfizer from October 2011 to May 2015. Additional roles include Head of Biologics and Biomarker Analysis at a contract research organization and Biochemistry Section Head at GlaxoSmithKline, where Rachel Grimley also led the Enzymology team. Earlier experience includes leadership positions at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, focusing on Hepatitis C Virus exploration and Enzymology, and a postdoctoral role in virology at the University of Oxford. Rachel Grimley earned a PhD in Enzymology from the University of Birmingham from 1994 to 1997.
