Laia Griñó

Director of Data Discovery at Candid

Laia leads Candid’s Data Discovery and real-time data teams, responsible for providing the social sector with up-to-date information about organizations and funding for their work. She works closely with teams across Candid – including partnerships, data science, products, and Insights – to identify pressing data needs, find ways to meet them, and ensure that our products and research can make the best use of that data. She is passionate about increasing the sector’s capacity to make data-informed decisions to drive meaningful change.

Laia has more than 10 years of experience promoting greater transparency and accountability in various sectors, including among nonprofits, funders and the federal government. Before joining Candid in 2016, she worked at InterAction, the largest alliance of international NGOs in the United States. There, she managed the organization’s working group on monitoring, evaluation and learning, where she took a practitioner-oriented approach to developing guidance materials and other resources on topics from impact evaluation to local ownership in evaluation. She also led InterAction’s work on transparency and played a leading role in developing the data-rich NGO Aid Map.

Laia holds a BA in international relations from the University of Southern California and an MSFS with a concentration in international development from Georgetown University.
