Brian Applegarth

Brian Applegarth has a diverse work experience in the cannabis industry. Brian is currently the Principal Consultant at Applegarth Consultative Services, where they specialize in the cannabis travel sector, providing data-driven strategies and solutions to destination organizations.

In 2020, Brian co-founded and co-produced the California State Fair Cannabis Awards, the first-ever state-agency sanctioned competition for cannabis.

Brian is also the founder of the Cannabis Travel Association International, serving as its united voice, advocating for cannabis travel, and providing education and networking opportunities.

Brian is the founder of The Cannabis Trail, a cultural trail that celebrates the cannabis legalization movement in California.

As a Certified Ganjier Cannabis Sommelier at Ganjier, they have gained expertise in cannabis products and their pairing.

Earlier in their career, Brian gained experience as a Key Account Manager at Kush Supply Co. and dosist, and as the Director Of Sales at The Hybrid Creative.

Brian is also an Oaksterdam University Graduate, having completed the Business of Cannabis Semester Program, which covered various aspects of the industry.

Brian Applegarth attended UC Irvine from 1998 to 2001, where they pursued a degree in International Studies with a focus on Conflict Resolution. In 2000, they also participated in a Semester At Sea program through ISE. In terms of additional certifications, Brian obtained a Business of Cannabis Semester Certification from Oaksterdam University in 2015, and they are currently in the process of obtaining a Certified Cannabis Sommelier certification from Ganjier, with completion expected in 2022.
