Senior Legal Counsel at Canopius

Amelia Thomson has extensive work experience in the legal field. Amelia started their career as a Vacation Scheme Student at Fieldfisher in 2014, before moving on to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates for a similar role later that year. In 2016, they became a Trainee Solicitor at Fieldfisher, where they gained valuable experience in corporate law. Amelia then had a secondment as a Trainee Solicitor at BBC Studios Ltd from 2017 to 2018. Amelia continued their legal career at Canada Life as a Legal Counsel from 2020 to 2023. Most recently, Amelia joined Canopius Group in 2023 as a Senior Legal Counsel.

Amelia Thomson attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2012 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). After completing their undergraduate studies, they went on to Kaplan Law School in 2015 and 2016 to pursue a Legal Practice Course. Furthermore, Amelia obtained additional certifications, including a PADI Divemaster certification from PADI in June 2016, an RYA Day Skipper certification from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in July 2013, and a Gold Duke of Edinburgh award in July 2012. Lastly, they hold Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Violin certifications from ABRSM, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
