Martin Bell

Martin Bell is an accomplished data scientist and astrophysicist with extensive experience in academia and industry. From January 2022 to September 2023, Martin served as a Senior Data Scientist at the University of Newcastle, specializing in time-series analysis, machine learning, and AI. Following this role, Martin became a Senior AI Researcher and Team Lead at Leonardo.Ai, focusing on generative AI in the art and video space. Previous academic positions include a lecturer and Head of Maths and Physics at the University of Technology Sydney and an astrophysicist at CSIRO and the University of Sydney, where significant contributions were made to notable research projects involving explosive and variable celestial objects. Martin holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Astrophysics from the University of Southampton, along with multiple advanced degrees in aerospace engineering and education. Currently, Martin is the Research Lead for the Canva Original Research and Exploration (CORE) Lab.
