Canyon Independent School District
Eric Mesa has extensive experience in various roles that emphasize safety, security, and emergency response. Since April 2018, Eric has served as a School Bus Driver for Canyon Independent School District, ensuring the safe operation of school buses and maintaining licensure. Previously, Eric worked as a Night Watchman at Amarillo Cotton Warehouse, monitoring safety protocols during night shifts, and as a Security Technician at IDeACOM of Amarillo, where installation of commercial security systems was a primary responsibility. Eric's experience as a Licensed Paramedic with Moore County EMS involved leading ambulance units in high-pressure emergency situations. Additionally, service in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Healthcare Non-Commissioned Officer included leadership training and deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Eric holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and General Studies from West Texas A&M University and an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Emergency Medical Technology from Amarillo College.
Canyon Independent School District
The Canyon Independent School District serves two communities, Canyon and Amarillo, in Randall County of the Texas Panhandle. The district covers a large area, which encompasses 732 square miles. The north end of the district has 8 campuses in south Amarillo that offer immediate access to city amenities, while those in the city of Canyon offer a small-town atmosphere with easy access to the city. In the city of Canyon there are 5 campuses, and 2 campuses are located in between the two cities. The Canyon ISD community is well known for its commitment to children and education. Within district attendance boundaries, new homes and new neighborhoods abound. Many new families move into the Canyon ISD attendance area because of the reputation of the schools and the quality of life found here. The school district is a learning community, providing opportunities for all students and staff to reach their learning potentials.
