Christopher Garran

Head of School at Cape Henry Collegiate

Chris Garran serves as Cape Henry Collegiate’s very proud eleventh Head of School and President of the Cape Henry Collegiate Board of Trustees.

Prior to joining the Cape Henry Collegiate community, Dr. Garran served as an Associate Superintendent for Montgomery County Schools, Maryland, one of the top school systems in the country. Prior to that role, he served as the principal of Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland, an award-winning school of 2,100 students. Before being named principal, he was a history teacher and department chair.

Dr. Garran also served as an adjunct instructor in the College of Education at the University of Maryland College Park and at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Garran earned his Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Maryland College Park. Both his Master of Arts in Teaching and his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Economics are from American University in Washington, D.C.
