Wilmie Jooste

Youth Development Manager at Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra

Wilmie Jooste joined the CPO as Youth Education and Development Manager in January 2023. She is a graduate of the South African College of Music at UCT) majoring in Jazz Performance, having studied Piano, Voice and Double Bass.

After teaching and travelling in Korea and the UAE, she started her musical administrative career as the Manager for the Stellenbosch University Choir and played an integral part in the tour to Riga for the 2014 World Choir Games. Wilmie then moved to Artscape as Project Manager, managing the audience development flagship project and the Youth Jazz Festival, where young musicians are mentored by industry greats over a period of 10 weeks. After a period with the Japanese Consulate in Cape Town where she added Japanese to her German, Afrikaans and English repertoire, she joined the CPO.

In her spare time Wilmie enjoys part taking in dog shows and she is involved with KUSA as Secretary to the Cape Utility Dog Club and President of the Cape Town Shiba Social Club.
