Derek Giesler has extensive work experience in various roles within the financial and agricultural sectors. Derek began their career in 2000 as a Statistician with the USDA, where they worked until 2006. Derek then joined Southwest Agribusiness Consulting as a Commodity Broker until 2013. In that same year, Derek joined Capital Farm Credit as a Credit Analyst, later progressing to the role of Senior Credit Analyst in 2015. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President Credit Officer at Capital Farm Credit since January 2019, where they specialize in financial analysis of large corporate agribusinesses and has expertise in various industries such as grain trading, grain cooperatives, nursery and greenhouse, and commercial seafood.

Derek Giesler obtained their Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University, where they attended from 1994 to 1999.
