Melissa Ortiz

Melissa Ortiz has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Melissa most recently worked at CapMetro as the Director of Community Engagement & Involvement, where they led a team responsible for community partnerships, strategic communications, and community-related programming. Before that, they were the Manager of Programming and Sponsorships at CapMetro, where they developed and executed community relations plans and programs. Prior to CapMetro, Melissa worked as a Community Engagement Team Coordinator at Caritas of Austin, focusing on community building and increasing philanthropic support. Melissa also has experience as a Staffing Coordinator at VMware and as a Recruiting Consultant at KeyStaff. Earlier in their career, Melissa worked as an Education Program Manager at Mexic-Arte Museum and as an Intern at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where they served as a language interpreter and translator.

Melissa Ortiz completed their Bachelor's degree in Communication at Texas State University from 2003 to 2007. Melissa also earned another Bachelor's degree in Spanish during the same period. Later, from 2011 to 2014, Melissa pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Additionally, in February 2024, Melissa obtained certification as an Envision Sustainability Professional from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
