Debprakash Patnaik

Debprakash Patnaik currently serves as Sr. Director of Machine Learning Engineering at Capital One, leading initiatives in Emerging AI Patterns, including Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLM) since September 2025. Prior to this role, Debprakash held multiple positions at Amazon, focusing on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Infrastructure, where responsibilities included leading ML Ops organizations and optimizing training infrastructure for AI models, particularly the Nova Sonic model that enables human-like conversations. Earlier in the career, Debprakash conducted research at HP, earning the HP Innovation Award for designing data mining algorithms for sustainable data centers, and at General Motors, where contributions included building data mining systems for vehicle health monitoring. Debprakash obtained a PhD in Data Mining & Machine Learning from Virginia Tech and a Master of Engineering in Machine Learning from the Indian Institute of Science.
