Debprakash Patnaik

Debprakash Patnaik, PhD, currently serves as the Senior Director of Machine Learning Engineering at Capital One since September 2025, leading initiatives within the Enterprise ML experience organization. Prior to this role, Debprakash accumulated extensive experience at Amazon from September 2011 to August 2025, where positions included Senior Software Development Manager leading multiple teams focused on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Infrastructure, as well as notable contributions to the Alexa Speech Recognition team. Debprakash's work involved delivering significant advancements in machine learning operations, optimizing large language model training, and enhancing customer experiences through improved speech recognition and data infrastructure. Earlier experience includes research at HP and General Motors, where Debprakash developed innovative data mining algorithms and vehicles' health monitoring systems. Debprakash holds a PhD in Data Mining and Machine Learning from Virginia Tech and a Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science.
