Rafal Krzywicki has over 15 years of experience in the energy trading industry. Rafal started their career at EPCOR in 2003 as a Real-Time Manager/Trader, where they managed the trading of power in the Eastern Power Portfolio and grew the company's presence in Northeast US markets. In 2006, they took on the role of Energy Trader in the Eastern Power Portfolio, trading power in various markets and generating significant speculative value for the company.
In 2008, Rafal joined Capital Power as the Director of the Eastern Power Portfolio, where they optimized thermal gas capacity in the New England power market, achieving annual asset and portfolio optimization targets worth approximately $50 million. Rafal also evaluated over $3 billion in power asset acquisitions.
In 2013, Rafal became the Director of Energy Marketing and Business Development at Capital Power. During their tenure, they were responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for the company's energy products.
In 2015, Rafal was promoted to the role of Director of Strategic Portfolio Management, where they led a team that developed analytics and tools to drive commodity portfolio decision-making and growth across various power markets. Rafal also played a key role in the structuring and pricing of wind facility off-takes and the evaluation of potential asset acquisitions worth billions of dollars.
Most recently, Rafal served as the Director of Trading/Commodities West at Capital Power, leading a team responsible for optimizing power generation capacity in Alberta and Ontario. Under their leadership, the team achieved significant annual incremental portfolio and speculative value worth $20 to $60 million.
Rafal Krzywicki obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Finance, General from the University of Calgary, where they studied from 1998 to 2003. Later, they enrolled at Queen's University from 2015 to 2016 and earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). Additionally, Rafal holds certifications such as the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), obtained in January 2013, and the Energy Risk Professional (ERP) also from GARP, obtained in January 2011.
