Debra M. Borrero

Debra M. Borrero is an experienced professional in government relations and strategic affairs, currently serving as the Director of Legislative & Strategic Affairs at CREC since September 2010, where responsibilities include developing strategic plans in collaboration with the RESC Alliance and CREC's leadership team. Previously, Debra held the position of Director of School Choice Programs, applying expertise in communications and community engagement to enhance educational opportunities in the Hartford Region. Prior experience includes serving as Deputy Director of Legislative & Policy Affairs for the State of Connecticut's Office of the Governor, where legislative advocacy achieved significant public policy advancements. Additional roles at Trinity College and Pace University laid the foundation for a strong background in community relations and academic advising. Debra holds an MA in Public Policy from Trinity College-Hartford and a BA in Communications from SUNY New Paltz, along with training from The Women's Campaign School at Yale University.
