Co-Founder & CTO at Capsule

Joseph Jorgensen has extensive experience in various leadership and technical roles in the technology industry. Joseph is currently the Co-Founder and CTO of Capsule, a position they have held since May 2020. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor and CTO at Hypno, an experiential marketing technology company, from March 2017 to December 2020. At Hypno, they were responsible for overseeing the development of the company's core platform and products, leading an R&D program, and serving as the chief architect and lead product owner/manager.

Before joining Hypno, Joseph was a Partner and CTO at HYPERHYPER®, where they managed and grew the technology team and led large projects including the re-platforming and relaunch of Playboy.com. Joseph also served as the CTO of PHHHOTO®, a mobile app and social network, from August 2014 to July 2017. During their time at PHHHOTO®, they led the engineering team and scaled the API to support millions of users and a high volume of daily content uploads.

From September 2012 to August 2014, Joseph served as the Head of Technology and Acting CTO at Code and Theory, providing technology strategy and leadership to clients. Prior to that, they held roles such as VP of Engineering and Technical Director at the company. Joseph'sresponsibilities at Code and Theory included presiding over the engineering and QA teams, participating in recruiting and business development, and playing a key role in the acquisition of a smaller agency.

Joseph's career also includes a role as a Software Architect at Schematic, where they spent four years as a tech lead, architect, and developer on various accounts. Joseph gained significant experience in web application performance optimization, database optimization, caching strategies, and content delivery networks. At Schematic, they led the launch and maintenance of Nokia's app store, the Ovi Store, and worked on a wide range of devices.

Early in their career, Joseph worked as a Research Software Engineer at ArticuLab, Northwestern University, where they worked on R&D projects related to artificial intelligence, educational technologies, and online communities. Joseph collaborated with researchers and contributed to published research studies.
