Eloi Pereira

Eloi Pereira, Ph.D. has over 15 years of experience in the fields of data science, precision measurement equipment, engineering, and research. In 2006, they began as a Researcher at the Institute of Systems and Robotics - Porto, where they collaborated under the memorandum of understanding between the Portuguese Air Force Academy and the School of Engineering of Porto University. Eloi also worked as an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Portuguese Air Force Academy from 2006-2016. During the summers of 2007 and 2008, they were a Summer-ship at the Center for Collaborative Control of Unmanned Vehicles (C3UV) at UC Berkeley, where they developed a webservice for publishing tasks two a network of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and a load-balancing algorithm for teams of UAVs. In 2007, they were also the National Coordinator for the European Defence Agency CapTech GEM4, where they coordinated research activities between the Portuguese Ministry of Defence, and all the participants of the EDA GEM4 forum, including academia and industry. In 2009, they were a Consultant and Lecturer at the Academia Militar Marechal Samora Machel in Mozambique, where they designed the curriculum of the Pilot degree in the areas of telecommunications, informatics and avionics. From 2016-2022, they were the Head and Principal Engineer at LEMP - Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory, Portuguese Air Force, where they led a team of ~20 technicians responsible for calibrating high accuracy measuring instruments. Currently, they are the Head of Data Science at Car IQ, where they are responsible for Car IQ's patented machine identity verification process that allows vehicles and machines to connect to payment networks, physical infrastructures, and mobility platforms.

Eloi Pereira, Ph.D. has an extensive education history. Eloi obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Systems Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015. Prior to this, they earned a Master in Automation, Instrumentation and Control from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto in 2009. Eloi also has a Licentiate in Electrical Engineering - Telecommunications from Instituto Superior Técnico from 2002 to 2005, and a Licentiate in Electrical Engineering - Telecommunications from Academia da Força Aérea from 1999 to 2002.
