James Liao

James Liao has over a decade of professional experience in the technology industry. James began their career in 2006 as a Digital Media Lab Senior Consultant and Specialist in Web Multimedia Development and a Engineering Science Library Research Computing Lab Technical Consultant at the University of Virginia. In 2009, they became a Developer Intern at Booz Allen Hamilton. In 2010, they were a Developer Intern at ICF International. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Product Manager, Developer Division and a User Experience (UX) Engineer, CSEO Design Studio at Microsoft. From 2012 to 2022, they were a Social Innovation Entrepreneur and Volunteer at TecShare. James is currently the Head of Research at Caravel Labs.

James Liao obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia in 2011, with double majors in Electrical Engineering and Economics, and a minor in Engineering Business. James has also obtained several certifications, including a UX Master Certification from the Nielsen Norman Group in 2019, a Certified Scrum Professional from the Scrum Alliance in 2017, an Architecting Microsoft Azure Solutions certification from Microsoft in 2017, a UX Certification from the Nielsen Norman Group in 2015, a Certified ScrumMaster from the Scrum Alliance in 2014, and a Worldwide Communities - User Experience Community SME certification from Microsoft.
