J. Stefan Kaczmarek has a diverse work experience in the field of neuroscience and drug discovery. J. Stefan currently serves as the Senior Director of Biology at Caraway Therapeutics, Inc., where they lead a team in the discovery and development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. Prior to this, Stefan worked at Sanofi as a Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist, focusing on early-stage drug discovery in the Rare Diseases Science group. J. Stefan also worked as a Staff Scientist at Sanofi, where they utilized various experimental approaches to identify and refine novel therapeutics.
Stefan has also worked at Flatley Discovery Lab as a Senior Research Scientist, where they led a team in providing endpoint assay data for cystic fibrosis research. Additionally, they served as a PhD Student in the Program in Neuroscience at Harvard University, studying the role of ion channels in sensation and neurological development.
Earlier in their career, Stefan worked at Hydra Biosciences as a Research Assistant and IT Manager, where they designed and executed screens for small molecule modulators and managed the company's IT resources.

J. Stefan Kaczmarek holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Harvard University, which they obtained from 2005 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their BA in Biology at Williams College from 1998 to 2002. In pursuit of their undergraduate studies, they also studied abroad at Trinity College Dublin from 2000 to 2001, focusing on Biochemistry. Their educational journey began at Phillips Exeter Academy, where they earned their Diploma from 1994 to 1998.
