Samantha Smith

Samantha Smith has extensive experience in the field of biomedical research and has held various roles throughout their career. Samantha is currently working as a Principal Scientist in Translational Biology at Carbon Biosciences, starting in May 2023. Prior to this, Samantha worked at Affinia Therapeutics, where they held the position of Principal Scientist from May 2022 to April 2023. Samantha also worked as a Senior Scientist II from February 2022 to May 2022, and as a Senior Scientist I from September 2020 to February 2022 at the same company.

Before joining Affinia Therapeutics, Samantha worked at Homology Medicines, Inc. as a Senior Scientist I in Viral Vector Biology from March 2020 to September 2020. Samantha also held the positions of Scientist II and Scientist I in Viral Vector Biology from March 2019 to March 2020, and from May 2017 to March 2019, respectively.

Samantha's earlier work experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at The Jackson Laboratory, where they conducted research on the human virome and contributed to the development of a computational virome analysis pipeline from an unspecified start date until April 2017. Additionally, Samantha worked as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Connecticut Health Center from an unspecified start date until 2015, focusing on Herpes Simplex Virus Type I and the molecular architecture of viral DNA.

Furthermore, Samantha has previous experience as a Scientist I in Ultra High Throughput Biomolecular Screening at Boehringer Ingelheim from December 2006 to May 2008, and as an Intern of Scientific Support Services at Duracell, a division of Procter & Gamble, from February 2004 to September 2006.

Samantha Smith completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Western Connecticut State University from 2002 to 2006. Samantha then pursued further studies and obtained their PhD in Biomedical Sciences from The University of Connecticut Health Center from 2008 to 2015.
