Martin Day

Martin Day has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Martin began their career at The Welding Institute as a Research Materials Scientist, where they conducted research and provided consultancy on welding, joining, and bonding materials. Martin then moved on to BTR Intermed, a medical equipment company, where they worked as a Materials Engineer and focused on R&D of new materials for artificial limbs and mobility aids.

In 1991, Martin joined Plasro Plastics as a Technical Sales Engineer, responsible for attracting new customers and growing the business, particularly in the medical field. Martin later became the Marketing Manager at CTP Plasro Ltd, where they successfully expanded the customer base and improved profitability by removing non-profitable applications.

Martin's experience at Carclo Technical Plastics (formerly CTP Plasro Ltd) was extensive. Martin held the position of Director of European Sales & Marketing, overseeing customer service, new business development, and marketing campaigns. Martin achieved business growth targets and secured large contracts with blue-chip customers in the medical and pharma fields. Furthermore, they were instrumental in setting up Carclo Diagnostic Solutions Ltd and launched their Point-of-Care diagnostic technology, micropoc, as their Commercial Director.

In their most recent role at Carclo, Martin served as the Sales Director, EMEA & India, responsible for customer service/retention and new business development in those regions.

Martin Day attended the University of Birmingham from 1982 to 1985, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy & Materials Science, earning an Honors classification. Later, they undertook management training in Carclo plc at the University of Bradford, studying for a BSc degree. In 1991, Martin obtained the title of Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council Examination in the UK. Additionally, they became a member of the Institute of Metals, Minerals & Mining (IoM3) in the same year.
