Jenny Copland, the Communications Lead at Care Inspectorate since March 2011, is responsible for successful external communications to support the organization's statutory duties, aims, and objectives. Previously, as a Senior Communications Adviser, she ensured effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Jenny also held the position of Publications Coordinator at The Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care from August 2004 to March 2011, managing publications and graphic design functions. With a BA (Hons) in Design, Jewellery & Silversmithing, and additional qualifications in marketing, plain English writing, and design management, Jenny brings a well-rounded skill set to her roles in communication and publication coordination.

We independently regulate care services for people of all ages in Scotland. We register, inspect and grade services, deal with complaints, carry out enforcement action where necessary and help services improve. We also inspect all Scottish local authority social work services, including criminal justice social work. We carry out joint inspections too, with colleagues from other organisations such as police, health boards and education, to check how successful services are at working together to deliver the best support for adults and children. We inspect the quality of care, promote best practice, identify ways that services can improve and support innovation. In everything we do, our aim is to improve people’s experience of care, focusing on what can improve their lives and not simply on the services provided to them.
