Alice Winstanley

Principal Analyst (strategic Insight) at Care Quality Commission

Alice Winstanley has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Volunteer Play Worker at Bath Area Play Project from 2000 to 2005. Alice then worked as a Volunteer at Splott Play Centre in 2004, and as a Volunteer Reading Mentor at Llanedeyrn Primary School from 2005 to 2006. In 2006, they volunteered at Ty Gwyn Special School, assisting with swimming and dance classes for children with special needs.

Moving on to their academic and research experience, Alice worked as a Research Assistant at the School of Psychology at Cardiff University from 2006 to 2007, supporting projects on social and cognitive development in infancy and early childhood. Alice then became a Pre-doctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health in 2008, followed by a PhD student role at the School of Psychology at Cardiff University from 2009 to 2012. Alice'sPhD research focused on the social and cognitive development of preterm infants.

After completing their PhD, Alice worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Cambridge from 2013 to 2015, specifically studying infant and parent contributions to development, with a focus on families who conceived through assistive reproduction.

Since 2016, Alice has been associated with the Care Quality Commission. Alice started as a Senior Analyst from 2016 to 2017, then became an Analyst Team Leader from 2017 to 2020. In 2020, they were promoted to the role of Qualitative Intelligence Development Manager, and most recently, they have been serving as a Principal Analyst (Strategic Insight) from April 2022 to the present.

Alice Winstanley obtained a BSc degree in Psychology from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd between 2004 and 2007.
