Deputy Director Multiagency Operations at Care Quality Commission

Nigel Thompson has accumulated extensive work experience in the field of social care and inspection. Nigel began their career as the Head of Business Development at the London Borough of Lambeth in 1998. Nigel then joined the Social Services Inspectorate, Department of Health, in 2002 as a Performance Inspector, where they focused on monitoring and assessing local councils in relation to adult and children's social care. Nigel then moved on to the Commission for Social Care Inspection in 2004, where they served as the Children's Strategy and Policy Lead until 2009.

In 2009, Nigel joined the Care Quality Comission as the Head of Equality Diversity and Human Rights, and subsequently held positions such as Head of Involvement Equality Diversity and Human Rights and Head of Inspections. Nigel currently serves as the Deputy Director Multiagency Operations at the Care Quality Commission, a role they have held since June 2022. Throughout their career, Nigel has demonstrated a commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and human rights within the social care industry.
