Charlene Brown

Charlene Brown, MD, MPH, is a seasoned psychiatrist and behavioral health leader with extensive experience in various clinical and administrative roles. Currently serving as the Behavioral Health Medical Director at Carelon Behavioral Health since June 2022, Charlene oversees strategic direction and utilization management for behavioral health services aimed at enhancing patient outcomes. Previous positions include CEO of Dr. Charlene Brown, LLC, where services for children and teens were provided, and Behavioral Health Medical Director at Optum, focusing on utilization management consulting. Charlene has held significant roles at UnitedHealthcare, AllMed Healthcare Management, and various healthcare facilities, showcasing expertise in managing complex psychiatric cases, developing innovative care protocols, and advancing teletherapy services. Academically, Charlene holds an MD from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center and an MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
