Teresa McMeans has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Teresa'smost recent role is as the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at CareMax, Inc. Teresa previously served as the Vice President, Compliance & Privacy Officer at Steward Health Care Network and also held the position of System Chief Compliance Officer (Interim Dual Role) at Steward Health Care. Prior to that, they worked as a Compliance Officer for Banner Health and as a Compliance & Privacy Officer for Sharp Community Medical Group. Teresa also served as a Senior Manager in Information Security & Privacy Compliance/Risk for Millennium Health and Senior Manager in National and Regional Compliance/Risk/Privacy/Security for Kaiser Permanente. Teresa has further experience as an Instructor in Health Education at Portland Community College and as an Associate in Medicare Policy for Kaiser Family Foundation. Prior to their graduate studies, Teresa completed their undergraduate education at Auburn University from 1997 to 2001. Teresa obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Health Services Administration. In addition to their degrees, Teresa has obtained multiple certifications. In 2018, they became certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). A year earlier, in 2017, they achieved the Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO) certification through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance, Inc. Teresa also holds the Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, which they obtained in 2013. Furthermore, they acquired the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) certification from the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) in 2007. Lastly, in 2003, Teresa became a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.
