Bharat Rao

Bharat Rao is currently the Co-Founder & CEO of Carenostics, a mission-driven startup focused on addressing the underdiagnosis, undertreatment, and health inequities of chronic diseases. Prior to this role, Rao worked at KPMG as a Partner and National Leader for Healthcare & Life Sciences, Data & Analytics from 2014 to 2020. Bharat also served as the Managing Director of Healthcare & Life Sciences Analytics at Deloitte from 2012 to 2014. Earlier in their career, they held various positions at Siemens Healthcare, including Senior Director, Head of AI & Health Analytics from 2008 to 2012, Head of the Center for Innovations and Head of Personalized Medicine from 2004 to 2012, and Senior Director of Computer Aided Diagnosis & Therapy (CAD) from 2002 to 2008. Prior to Siemens, Rao served as the Head of the Data Mining Group at Siemens Corporate Research, Inc. from 1993 to 2002. Throughout their career, Rao has developed over 20 market-leading AI-based computer-aided CAD products that have received FDA and EU approval, benefiting tens of millions of patients worldwide and generating billions of dollars in revenue.

Bharat Rao pursued their education in a progressive manner, starting with their 10th grade at Delhi Public School - R. K. Puram from 1976 to 1978. Bharat then moved on to KV Picket, where they completed their XII studies in the CBSE curriculum from 1978 to 1980. Bharat then enrolled at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they obtained their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Electronics Engineering from 1980 to 1985. Following this, they pursued their Master of Science (M.S) in Electrical & Computer Engineering, specializing in Decision-Support, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 1986 and 1988. Bharat concluded their educational journey at the same university, obtaining their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Electrical & Computer Engineering with a focus on Machine Learning from 1990 to 1993.
