Shawn Decarlo

Shawn DeCarlo has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Shawn has held various roles in different organizations, showcasing their expertise in leadership, management, and community development.

Starting in 1998, Shawn served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Mongolia, where they directed language programs and secured grants for educational resources. Following this, from 2003 to 2004, they worked as a Vista Leader in AmeriCorps, where they supervised and implemented a capacity-building project for over 40 AmeriCorps members.

In 2004, Shawn joined the Oregon Food Bank, where they held multiple roles over almost a decade. As the Statewide Services Coordinator, they oversaw relationships with regional food banks and ensured compliance with regulations. Later, as the Metro Services Manager, they expanded food distribution, managed a team, and improved community partnerships. Shawn also worked as the Community Fundraising Manager, successfully raising millions of pounds of food and dollars through various initiatives.

In 2014, Shawn joined Dialogues in Action as an Associate, developing a corporate portfolio of Impact Philanthropy clients and providing nonprofit consultation in leadership development and strategic planning.

In 2014, Shawn also served as the Director of Operations for Vacasa, a technology startup in the property management industry. Leading a team of over 100 employees, they successfully expanded the company's market presence in several states and drove significant revenue growth.

Lastly, since 2016, Shawn has been the Director of the Community Benefit Program at CareOregon. In this role, they manage the organization's grant program, facilitates shared learning opportunities, and fosters collaboration between grant recipients, the healthcare industry, and the community.

Shawn DeCarlo's education history begins in 1989 when they enrolled at Archbishop Wood High School. Shawn completed their secondary education at Archbishop Wood between 1989 and 1993. After graduating from high school, Shawn attended Penn State University from 1993 to 1998. During their time at Penn State, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Secondary Education and Teaching. In 1995, Shawn also briefly studied at the American University Of Cairo, although specific details regarding their degree and field of study during that time are not provided.
